This year we renamed our houses to reflect the rich history of Haverhill as a hive of industry in the Industrial Revolution. To do this we renamed our houses as:
Vanners: A silk making firm who opened a factory in Haverhill before moving to Sudbury. The mill in Haverhill was renowned for the quality of silk manufactured there.
Kipling: A silk mill operating in Haverhil that was taken over in 1900 by Walters of Sudbury.
Henderson: The rope manufacturers who were based on Rope Old Walk (opposite Burton End School).
Gurteen: The most famous business in Haverhill - the manufacturer of smocks and now suits and menswear.
