How safe is your child online?
In a world where technology plays a leading role E-Safety is a key priority for the wellbeing and safety of our pupils. To promote this role we have a focus on e-safety within our school which is delivered through the following:
- Specific lessons delivered around specific e-safety themes (these are specific to year groups)
- Workshops for parents to identify ways in which to support and protect their children online
- Provide copies of Vodafone Digital Parenting which provide information on keeping children safe online.
We are always keen to develop our E-Safety provision and do so in response to requests from parents. Should there be a specific area of E-Safety that you would like more information on or feel would be a good focus for a parent workshop please contact the School Office.
Online Safety Resources
Vodafone have produced a Digital Parenting Magazine which informs parents about the various technologies children are accessing today. There are also a large number of incredibly useful resources to support parents.
Thinkuknow is the education programme from NCA-CEOP, a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline.
- Jessie & Friends: online safety education for 4-7s
A series of three animations aims to give 4-7 year olds knowledge, skills and confidence to help them respond safely to risks they may encounter online. - Play Like Share – keeping 8-10 year olds safe online
A three-episode animation for 8-10 year olds helps them to learn how to spot pressuring and manipulative behaviour online and to stay safe from other risks they might encounter online.
National Online Safety – a guide providing some helpful tips on keeping children safe online.
National Online Safety Facebook page – NOS regularly post guides to support school staff, parents and children with the knowledge they need to understand online dangers and how best to react should an incident arise.
UK Safer Internet Centre – the latest tips, advice and resources to help children and young people have a safe and positive time online.
e-Safer Suffolk – Practical online safety advice, information and guidance to help reduce the risks of using the internet.
e-Safer Suffolk aims to raise the awareness of children, young people, families, vulnerable adults and those who work with them, about online safety issues and how to safely enjoy the internet.
It is a multi-agency partnership led by Suffolk County Council, the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, Suffolk Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Internetmatters.org – Supporting families online. Get expert support and practical tips to help children benefit from connected technology and the internet safely and smartly.
Childnet International, a non-profit organisation working with others to help make the internet a great and safe place for children.
